El pasado lunes fue anunciado oficialmente el calendario de eventos de las World Series of Poker 2011, que este año celebra su 42ª edición.
Este año las WSOP darán comienzo el 31 de mayo y finalizarán el 19 de julio y se disputarán en total 58 eventos con brazalete como premio.
En 2010, los 57 eventos con derecho a brazalete crearon una bolsa total combinada de premios de más de $187 millones y un récord de participación de 72.966 jugadores.
El primer evento de esta nueva edición tendrá lugar en el Rio All-Suite and Casino en Las Vegas y será el nuevo torneo, $25,000 heads-up no-limit hold’em championship.
Como siempre, el final de las WSOP 2011 sucederá cuando se haya formado la mesa final del Main Event que empezará el 7 de julio y terminará el 19 de julio. Los November Nine, como viene sucediendo en anteriores ediciones, volverán a enfrentarse para la final el 5 de noviembre. En 2010 el joven jugador canadiense Jonathan Duhamel se hacía con el prestigioso título de campeón del mundo, el brazalete y $8,944.138.
Uno de los grandes cambios en las series de este año, es que el registro para todos los eventos-brazalete estarán abiertos hasta el 4º nivel de juego (o hasta que todos los asientos disponibles hayan sido vendidos).
Las WSOP también han anunciado que habrá un máximo de tiempo de juego al día, que será de 10 niveles, sin importar el número de jugadores que queden en un evento. Si tras esos 10 niveles, no se ha proclamado ningún jugador vencedor, todos los jugadores que todavía estén en el juego volverán al día siguiente a las 03:00 pm para continuar.
Otro de los nuevos eventos en el calendario es el $2,500 buy-in shorthanded 10-game mix, que incluirá no-limit hold’em, seven-card razz, limit hold’em, limit Badugi, seven-card stud, no-limit deuce-to-seven draw lowball, Omaha eight-or-better, pot-limit Omaha, limit deuce-to-seven triple draw lowball y seven-card stud eight-or-better.
El evento $50K Players Championship regresa en 2011, pero lo hará al final de las series. El año pasado fue el evento#2 del verano, y fue Michael ‘The Grinder’ Mizrachi el ganador. Este año será el evento#55.
